CBIZ BP Sports Honors National Athletic Training Month

National Athletic Training Month is held every March to spread awareness about the important work of Athletic Trainers. The 2024 slogan is, "From Head to Toe”. In honor of national athletic training month, we would like to recognize these extraordinary frontline workers that keep many of us safe.

Their commitment to helping people prevent injuries, stay healthy and supporting the mental health movement is admirable. Many of us can think of at least one trainer who has impacted our lives for the better.

As health care professionals, they are highly educated and always dedicated to the job at hand. Athletic Trainers provide immediate care for acute injuries, manage rehabilitation after injuries, and establish policies and procedures for the school athletic training program to protect the students and the school personnel.

Their strengths go beyond injuries; they become life-long friends and supporters. Of all the things that Athletic Trainers excel at, the one skill that doesn’t get mentioned enough is their communication skills. Student-athletes put a lot of trust in their trainer. They provide guidance on his/her injury, what it entails for recovery, report to coaches on what is going on, speak with parents and break down the incredible “medical language barrier” for better understanding.  Many times, it’s simply lending an ear in an empathetic way of understanding to a student-athlete and offering some personal advice.

We rely on these same principles with our current schools here at CBIZ Borden Perlman Sports. We are always here to lend an ear and help them get through problematic injury claims. We rely heavily on communicating with our schools throughout the year on how their plan is working and suggest ideas on how to remove some of the workload off their desk. Our goal is to break down the “insurance language barrier” so they can make better decisions on future plan designs. 

This month, we would like to honor the Athletic Trainers who shape our everyday. We would also like to say thank you to our very own team members, Dustin Hill and Tony Trombetta for their many years of Athletic Training service.
